Sivasagar: Vibing Near The Waters

Updated: Sep 26, 2022

What is your favorite song? I am pretty sure you do have your favorite part in that song which you could listen to a million times and still never get tired of it. Maybe it reminds you of some sweet memory or your person. It is like the singer and the lyricist had put their hearts and souls into that to create that masterpiece. Exhaustion of that specific part might be the way to anti-exhaustion.

Similar had been the case with the Jaysagar part of our trip. That part had been my favorite. No matter how many times I play that cassette of memory in my mind, I feel like revisiting it again and again. It is evident that the kings and queens had put the best of their craftsmen to create Jaysagar. First we had taken a tempo to Jaysagar and saw the beautiful Joy Dol from outside the boundary walls. We were charged 20 rupees per person as entry fee. Here the counter person had taken the entry fees through G-Pay as cash culture had been withdrawn for this particular heritage. The tickets were processed online by ASI and was a better step towards future transactions according to me.

After the download of the tickets were complete, we had finally entered the Joy Dol. It had been maintained very nicely. The path had been a little slippery due to the uninterrupted rain but the monument had its own optimism-emitting power. These monuments playfully sing the historical glory of our kings and queens. The prosperity and power they held at that time was enormous. Unlike most of the Dols we had seen before, this had no traditional shed in front of the dome. Instead the shed had been built beside the structure. Obviously the renovation had been done later by ASI and a tin shed had been attached in the front. We had our photo session done there and later got lost in pseudo-excavating the pattern-detailing strategies of it.

As we went nearer, the structure got bigger and bigger. Our world always had given birth to two types of people- one who always complain and the other who manages to give their best in any condition. The people of that era had no big machines or any advanced chemicals to build such structures. The only things they had were stones, bricks and clay or maybe something extra which is out of my bandwidth of knowledge for now. But the fact that they had built out such masterpieces and literally had carved out some amazing patterns is the proof that talent can beat any kind of obstacle. Truly inspiring!

There was also an open space near a water body. There were benches to sit and enjoy the view. We could not do so again because of never-ending rain. My generous partner had brought me a bunch of yellow Krishnachura flowers which he had later fixed under our umbrella. We had opened our phone galleries, trolled the photography skills of both and left the Joy Dol to bath with the holy drops God had sent down. After a 5 minutes walk, we had reached a different space that was not a monument in Sivasagar. The Heritage Jaysagar it was.

The space had been surrounded with fences of bamboo plants. They had both indoor and outdoor seating areas. A nature loving person would definitely go for the outdoor ones. The view from the isolated extension above the water body is the luxury every visitor had craved for. The water body is the Jaysagar Tank or the Joysagar Tank, which had been evidently named after Joy Dol. This nomenclature had been observed with Siva Dol and Sivsagar Tank earlier. The Jaysagar Tank had been constructed within 45 days which for me is unbelievable and amazing at the same time. We had a cup of tea outside with Saiyyan being played on my partner's recommendation. The song had been able to resonate with the sounds of water that we had played our favorite part for more than five times. Then we both had closed our eyes and felt the fresh air dancing on our faces while listening to a beautiful playlist on Gaana. The leaves of water lilies and water chestnuts were floating on the surface. The lotus leaves were popping out with their proud chins higher than sublimity. After an hour of eternal peace, the waiter from inside the restaurant approached us for the lunch order. We had decided to order chicken biryani so that we could get some more time to inhale nature. Biryani takes time, you know!

Suddenly we had heard some loud laughs near us. Those were other people. No more peace was left like accompanied soliloquy a while ago. They were busy cracking jokes and clicking selfies. We too had our photo session for a few minutes and had finally decided to sit inside the restaurant as the biryani had also been ready to serve as informed by the waiter. All the tables had a laminated timeline showing history of tea which fascinated me a lot. The biryani was so-so but the restaurant itself had eye-catching elements around. After we had finished our food my friend had to go to the washroom which was unfortunately present outside the restaurant at the other end, which is a rectifiable feature about the place. Anyways he went to the bathroom and I wanted to wait for him at our favorite spot which had later been taken over by other people. I had to go to other table with our bags. While sitting on the wooden chair, I had come across a white lotus moving along the air. After a while it had burst open and slowly begun to attain the full shape as the time had been passing. The petals were snowy white. The happiness of the floret after seeing the world for the first time might have made her mother emotional. We sat for a few minutes at Jaysagar Heritage and left.

As we had moved forward, we had seen some more monuments which were quite unpopular. The most prominent among them had been the Baidyanath Shiva Dol. It was similar to Siva Dol but can be called a simpler version of the same. There were not many carvings as the other Dols had. However the place had decent maintenance and a groomed lawn. The major difference between Siva Dol and that one was the golden tip. This monument had no golden tip at the dome. There were two additional walls in front of the monument which we had not seen before in any other. Do you remember your childhood? We had the habit to check the kids newsletter of the local newspapers only to find and play spot-the-differences game. Similar was the case there. The similarities and differences were fun to spot. I assure you about the place to give you Monole Ubhoti Aahe Lorali vibes.
